Danjong became Taebaeksansin after his death like Choi, Yeong, Nam, Yi, Im, Gyeongeop, people who died with sorrow, were worshiped as gods. Since Danjong was put to death during his banishment in Cheongryeongpo, there are many tales about Danjong in the region, and many people worshiped him as a god.
A shrine named 'Soigiljedang' is located in 11ban, Sodo-dong, Taebaek-si. A figure of young Danjong is enshrined here. Every April 15, citizens gather and hold a memorial service. Also, in Gurae-ri, Sangdong-eup, Yeongwol-gun, there is a place called Eopyeong. It has the same legend, too. Eopyeong means a field where they serve god. There is a shrine in this maeul where citizens gather to hold a memorial service every 15th of the New year according to the lunar calendar. They always use a black pig as the ritual food. the shrine of the tutelary deitys, famous places to worship Danjong as a tutelary deity take places in Nokjeon-ri, Jungdong-myeon, Yeongwol-gun and Yeorang-ri, Buk-myeon, Jeongseon-gun.
