Gossi Cave is located across the river from Jinbyeol-maeul. It's 20 minute away to south from Yeongwol-eup toward Yeongwol Thermoelectric Power Plant along road 88 county road over Yeongwol Bridge. They used to ride a ferryboat to go over Namhangang River of 130m in width, but now it's connected by a bridge to the entrance of the cave.

The cave is developed from the northeast to the southwest. Some part of the cave is open to tourists. Gossi Cave was designated as Natural Product #219 in June 4, 1969, and was open to tourists from May 15, 1974. It's a typical lime cave, and shows multilayered structure.

On the lower layer, it has a horizontal cave form and a river is flowing through. The path is developed toward southwest from the entrance. The length of shown cave is about 950m and the length of hidden parts are about 2,438m. The total length of it is 3,388m. Only about 620m are developed for tours and open to tourists. There are various cave products such as soda straw, stalactite, stalagmite, stone pillar, cave coral, stalactite, curtain cave pearl, pisolite, cave screen, curved stone, and moonmilk as well as many deformed stalactite inside Gossi Cave. A distinctive cave product of Gossi Cave is the black cave corals. It's usually found on stalagmites and stalactites of which provision of cave water has stopped. This black cave products are especially seen in the parts which are not open to tourists. Its academic value is great. Black cave products are formed with the influence of organism from soil in cave water. Various cave creatures are inhabiting in Gossi Cave. Total 67 species, 58 genera, 50 families, 25 items, 8 classes were reported. Especially, 1 species of combined type, a arthropod, is highly appreciated. Also, 27 species, 21 families, 9 items of insect class, and 26 species, 17 families, 4 items of spider class are the most seen. Cave creatures found in Gossi Cave were 12 species of troglobionts, 20 species of troglophiles and 43 species of  accidental cave animals.
