Heungnyeongseonwon is a temple of Sajasanmun, one of Gusanseonmuns. It was built by master Cheolgam, Doyun, and was managed by Jeoljung, a pupil of Doyun. There is no documents clarifying the arrangement of Buddhist temple and the time of establishment of Heungnyeongseonwon, but it's assumed to be built before the late 9th century. Heungnyeongseonwon had its period of prosperity in Goryeo Period, and it declined in Joseon Period. Before the early or middle 18th century, it became a closed temple, and was newly opened to Beopheungsa Temple.
