Minchungsa is behind Geumgangjeong on the cliff on the east side of Yeongwol KBS Broadcasting Studio. At the entrance of the shrine, a hanging board written by Youn, Saguk is hung, and 2 restoration notes written each by Kim, Byeongseon and An, Gu are hung behind the hanging board,
In October 24, 1457(3rd year in the reign of King Sejo), when Danjong dies, his maids and lords threw themselves into Geumgang. People called this place Nakhwaam, and built a small shrine to praise their souls. In 1742(18th year in the reign of King Yeongjo), by King's command, a shrine was built to enshrine mortuaries of them to hold memorial service. In 22nd year in the reign of King Yeongjo, Jo, Hamang, the governor, renamed Nakhwaam to Changyeolam. In 25th year in the reign of King Yeongjo, Kim, Eungbok, the governor, repaired the shrine and renamed it to Minchung. In 1758(34th year in the reign of King Yeongjo), it was restored by King's command. In 1791(15th year in the reign of King Jeongjo), Bak, Gijeong, the governor, rebuilt the shrine, and Youn, Saguk wrote the hanging board. Later, it was severely damaged during the Korean war. In 1956, Nam, Wonsu, the county headman, restored it. Now, the memorial service is held in "Cold Food" day and October 24 by the lunar calendar every year as well as in Gijinje of Danjong.
